MY STORY
I’m going to be asking you lots of questions so that I can get to know you, so here is a condensed version of who I am and how I came to be a celebrant…
I was born and raised in Central London but spent 15 years living overseas in Australia and Southern California. I returned to England in early 2019 and settled in Deal, a little town I had only visited once for less than 24 hours. It was a bold move but it has paid off and I’m extremely happy here.

I have three magnificent children, the youngest of which has just left to study in London. I’m deeply proud of them all for a million reasons, and I miss them desperately. My eldest lives in New York and my middle one lives in Winchester. My children are my life – there’s no doubt about that.

My background is in graphic design. I studied at Central St Martins and I worked in the music business and magazine publishing for many years. I still do the odd branding job and help people design websites, but my main interest is now working as a celebrant.

I fell into this new line of work completely by chance after my daughter asked me to officiate her wedding in 2023. It seemed so out of my comfort zone, but once I was there and leading the ceremony it felt like the most natural thing in the world. I immediately did some research into training and launched myself into learning how to be a celebrant. There’s no question I have found my vocation and the only frustrating thing is I didn’t discover it sooner!

When I was young I loved writing and even considered becoming a copywriter, but design felt more relevant so my writing fell by the wayside. One of the many things I am enjoying about being a celebrant is the writing!! Whether I’m learning about someone I’ll never meet so that I can write their eulogy, or meeting a couple and encouraging them to tell me their love story so that I can write it for them… putting pen to paper is always exciting.
